A stunning life sized brass mask of Panjurli which belongs to the Bhuta cult tradition. The craftmanship of this piece is quite remarkable with fine tusks, ears and a chain of nagas surrounding the neck almost like a prabhamandala protecting the Panjurli. It is a well made attractive piece that would be a unique addition to your home decor. It has a provision for hanging.
Metal masks like this one are among the various masks used in Bhuta worship practiced in coastal Karnataka. The cult of Panjurli, the boar spirit considered as guardian of the area, in maintaining justice and peace in the places where he is believed and worshipped. He is the Divine Spirit, who sits in judgement on the conduct of members of a family, village and cluster of villages.
