Vintage Statuette - Rama

This vintage copper statuette of Lord Rama comes from a quaint town in western Maharashtra, where it was part of a family's collection for over three generations. Passed down through a household that maintained a small private shrine, it reflects not just devotional practice but also a legacy of care and continuity.

The figure shows Rama in a poised, composed stance with a subtle bend in his right knee — a detail that lends a sense of movement without disturbing his stillness. His right arm stretches out gently at his side in a gesture that feels both open and grounded, while his left arm is raised toward the shoulder, capturing the classic pose associated with vigilance and command.

A quiver of arrows leans against his right shoulder, clearly identifying him as the warrior prince of Ayodhya. The detailing is refined yet restrained — a tall, peaked crown, elongated ear ornaments, and minimal adornment that allows the form to speak for itself. The surface has taken on a warm, aged patina over the years, reflecting time, use, and reverence.

Statuettes like this were often cast using the lost-wax method, a traditional metal casting technique still practiced in parts of Maharashtra. Despite its modest scale, the piece carries both spiritual weight and a tangible sense of history — shaped by ritual, lineage, and the quiet passing of time.
