Vintage Statuette - Ganesha
This vintage brass statuette of Lord Ganesha was sourced from an old town in western Maharashtra, where it had long been part of a family’s home shrine. Made in a traditional, no-frills style typical of older regional brass work, it carries a quiet dignity shaped by daily worship and time.
Ganesha is shown seated in a composed posture, with four arms and a tall, peaked crown. His gracefully curved trunk reaches toward the modak in his lower left hand — a gesture that adds a gentle, almost human touch. The lower right also holds a modak, while the upper arms bear an ankush (goad) and a noose — symbolic tools used to guide and control the mind’s impulses, often found in classical iconography but here rendered in a more grounded, folk manner.
The surface has developed a warm, worn patina over the years, softening the edges and deepening the overall tone of the piece. Modest in scale but rich in symbolism, it reflects a lived-in devotion — the kind passed down quietly, from one generation to the next.
