Vintage Rose Water Ewer
A vintage rose water ewer from Uttar Pradesh, distinguished by its elegant and well-balanced form. A wide, stable base rises into a unique circular water-holding chamber, lending the piece both visual interest and functional grace. This transitions into a finely fluted upper section, adding height and rhythm to the overall silhouette.
The central portion is adorned with delicate Ganga–Jamuna floral work, where contrasting metals are inlaid to create subtle, intricate patterns that catch the light beautifully. Traditionally used to store and sprinkle rose water (ittar or gulab jal) during rituals, festivities, and in aristocratic households, such ewers were integral to hospitality—offered to guests for fragrance, cooling, and ceremonial purification. Over time, the surface has developed a soft patina, enhancing its vintage character and artisanal appeal.
