This vintage embroidered yoke panel from Kutch, Gujarat, was once part of a traditional woman’s garment. Worked on a yellow ground, it features stylised, symmetrical floral motifs stitched in bright contrasting threads, reflecting the vibrant colours and decorative vocabulary of western India’s textile traditions.

Small mirrors, known as abhla, are set at the centres of the floral motifs, catching the light and adding dimension to the embroidered surface. The repeated patterns create a balanced composition, while the variation in colour and stitchwork brings movement to the design.

Traditionally, embroidered garment panels formed an important part of women’s attire in Kutch, where regional textile practices developed distinctive combinations of geometric and floral designs, vivid threadwork and mirror embellishment. This yoke preserves a fragment of that textile heritage, offering a glimpse into the craftsmanship and aesthetic expression associated with traditional Kutchhi dress.

Mounted against a white background with a minimal border, the panel is presented as framed textile art. Its yellow ground and colourful floral embroidery make it suitable for a collection of Indian textiles, folk art or cultural artefacts, as well as interiors that bring traditional craftsmanship into contemporary spaces.
