Welcome to The Blue Trunk!
I’m Ujval Anand, founder and curator.
What began as a personal passion for collecting has grown into The Blue Trunk, a collection of Indian vintage art, ritual objects, masks, wooden carvings and other cultural finds. Over the years, travel and encounters with collectors, families and artisans have shaped the way I discover and curate these pieces.
At our gallery in Aarey, Mumbai, an old blue trunk remains a symbol of the journey that started it all. Through this website, I’m delighted to share these discoveries with collectors and curious minds, wherever they may be.
I invite you to explore the collection and discover something that speaks to you.

This vintage daricha, the Urdu word for a window, was once part of an old haveli and has been transformed into a painted decorative artefact. Its original architectural character is retained, while vibrant colours and detailed traditional motifs give the surface a renewed visual presence.
Windows and architectural elements from historic Indian homes offer a glimpse into the decorative traditions of their time. Reworked as a display piece, this daricha brings together the character of an old building element and the visual appeal of hand-painted ornamentation.
The combination of its vintage form, painted details and architectural origins makes this piece suited to interiors that incorporate Indian heritage objects, traditional art and reclaimed architectural elements. It can be displayed as wall art or used as a focal point in a curated living space, adding colour and a sense of history to the setting.
Wipe the piece with a soft, dry cloth. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, dampness, heat or cold.
