Welcome to The Blue Trunk!
I’m Ujval Anand, the founder—and I’m so glad you’re here.
The Blue Trunk isn’t just about artifacts; it’s about stories, memories, and the magic of India’s heritage. My journey began in the corporate world, but my heart always belonged to travel, culture, and art. Collecting pieces of history filled me with a joy I couldn’t ignore—and that joy grew into The Blue Trunk.
At the heart of our Bombay gallery sits an old blue trunk—a symbol of everything we stand for. Today, I’m thrilled to share that same charm with you, wherever you are in India. Through our website, you can now explore and experience the collection anytime, from anywhere.
So, take a wander, discover what speaks to you, and let’s keep the magic alive—together.
With warmth,
Ujval Anand

This is a vintage bronze anklet traditionally worn by Theyyam performers during ritual dances in North Kerala. Locally referred to as Kakkaru or Silambu, the anklet is oval in shape, hollow, and contains small metal beads that produce a rhythmic sound when the dancer moves. These anklets are not just decorative but serve a functional role, enhancing the percussive elements of the performance.
Theyyam is a centuries-old ritual art form that blends dance, music, and divine invocation, with the performer believed to embody a deity during the performance. Such anklets form an integral part of the costume and help intensify the dramatic impact of the dance.
This piece dates back to the early 20th century and is in excellent condition, with no cracks or repairs. It stands as both a collectible artifact and a cultural marker of Kerala’s living traditi
ons.
