Vintage Statuette - Vishnu

This vintage copper statuette of Lord Vishnu was found in a small town in western Maharashtra, where it had long been part of a family's domestic shrine. Modest in scale but rich in devotional presence, the piece reflects the quiet, enduring nature of everyday worship.

Vishnu is shown with four arms — the upper hands holding the conch (shankha) and discus (chakra), while the lower hands are positioned in blessing and protection mudras. The posture is composed and balanced, with a sense of calm authority that defines much of traditional Vishnu imagery.

The figure was cast using the lost-wax method — a traditional technique in which a detailed wax model is formed, coated with layers of clay, and then melted away to make space for molten metal. This method allows for fine detailing in a single cast, and often results in subtle variations that make each piece unique.

Over time, repeated handling and ritual use have softened the finer lines of the figure. A deep, natural patina now covers the surface, speaking to its age and spiritual use. This is a quietly powerful collectible — not elaborate, but full of lived-in grace and devotional history.
