Kar-i-Munnaqash : Phulai Bowl
This papier-mâché bowl has a gently tapering form that rises from a small stemmed base, culminating in a softly wavering rim. Painted using Kar-i-Munnaqash, a traditional Kashmiri decorative technique, the surface is richly adorned with bunches of blue blossoms—both inside and out. Known as Phulai in the local tradition, this clustered floral motif is a hallmark of Kashmiri craftsmanship, rendered here with fine, deliberate brushwork that showcases the elegance and precision of this time-honoured art.
