This vintage Prabhavali from Andhra Pradesh is a finely crafted example of traditional South Indian sacred metalwork, distinguished by its dynamic arrangement of sculpted jwalas, or flames, rising across the upper section. The rhythmic repetition of the flames gives the aureole a strong sense of movement while framing the sacred imagery at its centre.

At the top is a prominent Kirtimukha, the protective face motif widely found in Indian temple and sacred art. Directly below it is a Naga with an expanded hood, creating a powerful vertical axis through the centre of the Prabhavali. Ornate decorative motifs surround and support the Naga, adding further detail to the composition.

The central section departs from more conventional Prabhavali forms, with elegant open arches creating depth and allowing the metalwork to retain a sense of lightness. The contrast between the architectural arches, richly worked ornamental details and animated jwala flames gives the piece a distinctive visual character.
