Welcome to The Blue Trunk!
I’m Ujval Anand, founder and curator.
What began as a personal passion for collecting has grown into The Blue Trunk, a collection of Indian vintage art, ritual objects, masks, wooden carvings and other cultural finds. Over the years, travel and encounters with collectors, families and artisans have shaped the way I discover and curate these pieces.
At our gallery in Aarey, Mumbai, an old blue trunk remains a symbol of the journey that started it all. Through this website, I’m delighted to share these discoveries with collectors and curious minds, wherever they may be.
I invite you to explore the collection and discover something that speaks to you.

This handcrafted brass mask of Lord Hanuman presents a commanding image of the revered Hindu deity. Calm, focused eyes, a well-defined moustache and finely detailed ear ornaments shape the expression, while the carefully sculpted facial contours balance strength with composure. A tall, unembellished headgear completes the form, giving the mask a distinctive presence through its restrained design.
Hanuman, the devoted follower of Lord Rama, is revered for his strength, courage, wisdom and unwavering devotion. A central figure in the Ramayana, he is worshipped as a protector and a symbol of selfless service. His association with shakti (strength) and bhakti (devotion) makes his image an enduring presence in Hindu religious art and devotional spaces.
The substantial brass form and expressive modelling make this mask well suited to wall display. It can be incorporated into a home shrine, a collection of Indian religious artefacts or an interior featuring traditional metalwork and devotional art. Its strong features and vertical proportions allow it to stand out as an individual piece.
Wipe the piece with a soft, dry cloth. Do not expose it to direct sunlight, dampness, heat or cold.
